In Tuscany also German gallery owner Peter Femfert decided to buy the Fattoria di Nittardi in Castellina in Chianti.

STING

In 1997, Sting bought the Tenuta Il Palagio, a sixteenth-century estate nestling amongst the vineyards of the Chianti region. “Il Palagio is like stepping into a painting. And one of my favorite places on Earth. I hope you fall in love with it as much as I have.”, Sting said. Il Palagio also boasts about 5700 olive trees. It produces of course olive oil but also wine with biologic methods. From Sting’s winery come out labels dedicated to some of the most famous songs as “Message in A Bottle”, “Sister Moon” and “When We Dance”. 

FRANCES MAYES

Frances Mayes is an American novelist. In 1986 she published “Under the Tuscan Sun: At Home in Italy”, which is based on her memoir about restoring a house. In the book, which was also included on the New York Times Best Seller list, she in fact talks about how she bought and renovate an abandoned villa named Bramasole (“longing for the sun”) in Cortona, Tuscany. A few years later, adapted by director Audrey Wells it was realized a film based on her book. Today she also is the artistic director of the “Tuscan Sun Festival”, a yearly festival called by The Independent “One of the Ten Best Summer Arts Festivals in Europe”.

RACHAEL RAY

The American celebrity cook, television personality, businesswoman, and author decided to buy a home in Tuscany in August 2021. “In Tuscany, the air smells different from any other place on earth I’ve visited. It’s sweet and filled with the scent of agricultural wonder”, she said. “The olive trees, vineyards, fecund gardens, incredible landscapes and views…it overwhelms you and it’s what I’ve missed the most — the air! The first time I went, 20 years ago, I felt it as soon as I touched the ground.

The American actress and television personality fell in love with Tuscany in the summer of 2001, when she met Gabriele Corcos on holiday in Florence. 20 years later, they’ve decided to also move to Italy, to Gabriele’s hometown Fiesole, Florence. Today they live between Brooklyn, where they also opened a Tuscan-based restaurant called “Tuscan Gun” and in their farmhouse outside Florence.

COLIN FIRTH and ED SHEERAN

The English actor and the English singer-songwriter were reported to both have homes in Città della Pieve. Actually isn’t part of Tuscany, but we are around Perugia, part of the Umbria region. Anyway, it is really very close to the Tuscan border. It has also been reported that Colin Firth, has also a second house in Tuscany itself. He has been married to Italian producer Livia Giuggioli and speaks fluent Italian.
