The Covid-19 forced the stop of every event, including the well-known Palio di Siena. The most important horse race of the world had to pause the medieval tradition in 2020 and in 2021, when the race didn’t take place. For the “Contrade” has been so difficult to pass through it, as the Palio di Siena is raced since 1644.
These days the Covid-19 numbers seem to fall down day by day both in Italy and all around the world. The Italian government, like other European countries, is starting a way back to normality. The laws and regulations of outdoor celebrations are changing.
The Siena Mayor recently announced that the path to the Palio di Siena come back will be started with the deleting of the “state of emergency” supposed to be effective by the government starting from April, 1.
Saying that, it seems that the Palio di Siena is set to return the next 2nd of July and 16th of August, as always, in the Piazza del Campo, which is ready to host newly this incredible and traditional event.
